FAQs
What does Delia LaJeunesse Art Consulting do?
I provide full-scope art curation for residential, commercial, and design-led projects.
My work focuses on building cohesive art environments that feel intentional, emotionally aligned, and integrated into the architecture and interior design of a space. I manage the full process from concept through installation, including sourcing, coordination, procurement, and logistics.
The goal is not to place artwork on walls, but to create a unified visual and spatial experience through art.
What is an art consultant?
An art consultant defines and executes the art layer of a space so it functions as part of a cohesive design system.
This includes developing art direction, sourcing artwork, advising on scale and placement, coordinating acquisitions, and managing installation logistics.
In practice, an art consultant acts as a bridge between interior design, architecture, and the art world—ensuring the collection feels integrated, intentional, and spatially resolved rather than decorative or incidental.
How is your work different from a gallery or buying art directly?
A gallery represents artists. A collector selects individual works. My role operates outside both structures.
I am artist-neutral, which means I do not represent artists or work from a fixed roster. I source based entirely on the needs of the project, not inventory or representation.
This allows each collection to be built specifically for the space, rather than shaped by availability or programmatic bias.
Do you work with interior designers?
No. I don’t mark up artwork prices. You are free to add your own markups if that is a part of your business structure! Many of my designers find this structure allows them to add to their margins.
How are you compensated?
For most projects, I charge a flat curation fee or work on retainer for ongoing collaborations. The structure depends on the scope, number of pieces, and timeline. I’m happy to walk you through options.
Can you support multiple properties or projects at once?
Yes. I work with several design studios across multiple active projects. My systems are built to handle complex timelines, diverse aesthetics, and overlapping deliverables with ease.
How do I get started?
You can either send me an email: inquiries@delialajeunesse.com with details on the project, or fill out this google form and I’ll reach out to schedule a call with you or the client!
Do you work with private clients and collectors?
I am always happy to get on a call to discuss what you need. I offer a few other services like office hours if you have specific questions we can work through in 1-3 sessions, or where I can give you specific direction for smaller projects without a full commitment.
Do you help emerging collectors build a collection?
Yes.
I work with emerging collectors to help establish clarity, direction, and coherence when building a collection for the first time.
The focus is on developing a long-term approach to collecting rather than making isolated or reactive purchases.
How do I start building an art collection?
Most collections begin with context rather than individual artworks.
I typically start by understanding the architecture, spatial flow, and emotional tone of a space. From there, we develop a direction that guides selection over time.
A strong collection evolves through a series of intentional decisions rather than a single moment of acquisition.
What should I consider when choosing art for a home or interior?
Cohesion comes from relationships between works, not matching styles.
Key considerations include scale, materiality, rhythm, spatial flow, and how the viewer experiences the work within the environment over time.
The most successful collections feel embedded in the architecture and design language of the space.
How do I choose art that works with my interior design?
Art should be considered part of the design system, not a final decorative layer.
When I work with designers, art direction is developed alongside the interior concept so that material, tone, and scale are aligned from the beginning of the project.
This creates a more integrated and resolved environment.
What are the benefits of working with an art consultant?
Working with an art consultant introduces coherence and intentionality into the art layer of a space.
Rather than selecting individual works in isolation, the focus shifts to building a unified collection that supports architecture, design, and emotional tone.
The result is a more resolved and spatially integrated environment.
What types of artwork do you source?
I source original work across painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, and mixed media.
Most works come from emerging to mid-career contemporary artists, sourced through primary markets, galleries, and independent studios depending on project needs.
Selections are guided by spatial fit, conceptual alignment, and material balance rather than a fixed aesthetic style.
Do you work within a set budget?
Yes.
I can work within defined budgets or help establish an appropriate range early in the project. Sourcing is always tailored to maximize impact within the available parameters.
Art budgets are separate from consulting fees.
How do you charge for your services?
My work is structured on a project basis rather than hourly billing.
Fees vary depending on scope, number of artworks, and level of involvement, and are organized into defined project ranges based on complexity.
Do you mark up artwork?
No.
I do not mark up artwork prices. Artwork is purchased directly or through standard trade channels depending on project structure.
How are you compensated?
I charge a flat project fee or retainer depending on scope and engagement type.
The structure is determined at the beginning of each project based on level of involvement and complexity.
Do you handle purchasing and installation?
Yes.
I manage procurement, coordination, and installation oversight for most projects.
This includes working with artists, galleries, shippers, and installers to ensure works are delivered and installed correctly within the space.
How do you handle framing and installation?
Framing guidance is included as part of the curation process, and I can coordinate framing directly if needed.
I also work with installers, contractors, or design teams to ensure proper placement and execution.
Where do you source artwork from?
I source from a range of primary markets including independent artists, galleries, and international studios when appropriate.
Because I am artist-neutral, sourcing is guided entirely by project needs rather than representation or inventory.
Do you take commissions from artists or galleries?
No.
I do not represent artists and do not operate as a gallery. This ensures sourcing is unbiased and fully driven by the requirements of the space.

Can you manage multiple projects at once?
Yes.
I regularly work across multiple design studios and concurrent projects. My process is structured to handle overlapping timelines and varied aesthetics efficiently.
Do you work remotely?
Yes.
Most projects are handled remotely through digital collaboration. Site visits are available when required for larger or highly spatially sensitive installations.
Do you offer collection management or appraisal services?
I offer light collection documentation and organizational support for existing clients.
For formal appraisal services, I can connect clients with trusted external specialists as needed.
What is your geographic scope?
I am based in the United States and primarily work with US-based clients, while sourcing artwork internationally as appropriate.
How do I get started?
You can reach out directly via email with a brief description of your project.
If appropriate, I schedule an initial conversation to determine scope, fit, and next steps.
What happens after I contact you?
I begin with a short introductory conversation to understand the project.
If there is alignment, I define scope, structure, and engagement terms before beginning any curation work.
Do you offer one-off consultations?
Yes.
I offer advisory sessions for designers and clients who need targeted direction on specific decisions without full project engagement.
Can you support large-scale commercial or multi-unit projects?
Yes.
I work on hospitality, multi-family, and workplace projects where art must be coordinated across multiple units or environments.
In these cases, the work shifts from individual selection to building a scalable and cohesive system across the entire project.
What if I don’t know what kind of art I want?
That’s a very normal starting point.
Most projects don’t begin with clear artwork choices—they begin with uncertainty, a space, and a sense of what the environment should feel like. My role is to translate that into direction by working from the architecture, interior language, and emotional tone of the space.
From there, we develop a framework that guides decisions over time so the collection feels intentional, cohesive, and specific to the environment rather than dependent on prior art knowledge.
