Femininity & Humanity Through Art Collections
I spend a lot of time imagining what our world would be like if we truly placed importance on art as a culture.
It’s a very good imagining. But also who knows. What I do know is what can transform in your own personal life when you start to prioritize art in your home, in your budget and in the way you express yourself.
1. Art as a Therapeutic Tool
If we centered art more critically in our personal lives, our homes and our communities, would know how to use creative expressions as a form of therapy. Art therapy would be a normal resource we can employ for ourselves, providing an opportunity for healing from emotional wounds, fostering resilience, and mental well-being.
This kind of arts-healing could, according to a new field of study called neuroesthetics, encourage personal expression and self-discovery. Individuals, regardless of artistic skill, would engage in artistic pursuits to explore their emotional landscape, find solace, and undergo personal development and transformation. In fact, you don’t even have to create art in order to benefit from it. Simply engaging with and appreciating art offers a kind of balm for us.
Artistic expressions often act as mirrors reflecting the shared human experience. Individuals would find resonance in the narratives presented by artists, fostering a sense of connection, empathy, and the understanding that we are all part of a collective story.
Feminine Perspectives
Art has an inherently feminine quality to it. I do not mean it’s girly. I mean it is of the creative, receptive, generative energies, which are typically feminine over masculine. A culture focused on meaningful art would empower and center and celebrate feminine perspectives. That’s in terms of problem solving, how we organize and build societies, how our communities are formed and what we prioritize in life.
Artistic expressions that reflect the diverse experiences of women would take center stage, challenging stereotypes and fostering a deep appreciation for the strength and resilience inherent in femininity.
Women and nonbinary artists could start to receive the recognition they deserve. Their contributions to the arts have so often been overlooked in the past. Instead, we could foster an environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, can find inspiration and empowerment in the stories told by female creators.
Envisioning a culture that centers art holds the promise of a society where healing, femininity, and humanity intertwine and are central. Art becomes a refuge for personal healing, a celebration of feminine strength, and a unifying force that binds us all to our shared humanity. Embracing this vision invites us to recognize the profound impact art can have on our individual well-being and our shared journey as human beings.
