Have you ever wondered who buys art near you?

If you haven’t started your own collection yet, it might seem like people who actually buy art are totally removed from your world. They’re not. But let’s go into some profiles of art buyers.

The Capital A Capital C Art Collectors

Ever peeked into someone's living room and thought, "Eesh, they have an entire museum in there!" That's probably the work of avid collectors. These people aren't just buying art; they're creating a personal gallery. You'll find them at galleries, auctions, and art fairs, on the lookout for the next big thing. And to be honest… it feels prohibitive to most of us. It’s impressive and amazing and I’m so glad they are in the world. But when that’s our only vision of an art collector it’s most definitely intimidating.

However, if you’ve been with me for a minute, you know that I believe strongly that this level of art curation is possible for everyone. Truly. No matter your budget. IT doesn’t happen over night. You start with a single piece. You build. You fall in love. You create your narrative, your memoir through art. It’s bit by bit and you can do it too. Art is so much more accessible than you might think. I recommend my YouTube channel if you want a place to explore this in-depth.

Interior Designers (or wannabes)

Let's talk home vibes. More and more on my social feeds anyway I see so many people becoming obsessed with interior design. These folks aren't just picking out curtains and throw pillows; they're on a mission to find that one piece that ties the whole room together, and the look that builds out their personal brand. MOST of these people miss out on art entirely and follow meaningless trends. SOME understand that when you focus on art, and work with someone to curate a personalized space, you can turn a living spaces into a personalized, unique and wholly authentic vibe.

The Office Art

Believe it or not, businesses are hopping on the art train too. Corporate art buyers are out there, scouting for pieces that vibe with their company's ethos or add some flair to the office vibes. If you’re going to decorate a workplace with something, IMO it might as well be art. It’s way less expensive than you probably think it is, and it’s so much more meaningful, both culturally and individually.

Local Art Supporters

These are the folks who show up to every art event, cheer for local talent, and spread the word like art influencers. Bless these people. They're all about strengthening the local arts scene, celebrating diversity, and just soaking up the creative energy in the neighborhood. A lot of these people are supporting youth art engagement, advocating for art in schools and after school programming. Yay for future artists.

Newbies Turned Art Lovers

Art has this magic way of pulling people in. There are those who start as casual art browsers and end up turning their homes into mini-galleries. These new art enthusiasts might begin with a print or two, but before you know it, they're trading up and building their own collection. These are my people.

So, the next time you wonder, "Who's buying art near me?" remember, it's a crew of everyday people, each adding their flavor to the local art mix. Whether you're an artist hoping to connect with buyers or just wondering who else is into the scene, you might find it's a whole lot more relatable and interesting than you thought.
